2018 OnStage Atlanta

Heart's Delight Cards, Petal Palette, Thank You, Stampin' Up!

We made it to Atlanta, and are having a grand time! As promised, here are the swaps I made. I decided to go with two styles, trying to appeal to as many people as possible. Which one do you like better?

Before the big event starts, many demonstrators like to swap cards that they make specifically to swap with other demos. It's a great way to get new ideas, or to get a sample of a stamp set that we might not have. (I know, hard to believe, but most of us don't have ALL the stamps.....as much as we want them!)

Heart's Delight Cards, Petal Palette, Thank You, Stampin' Up!

The first card uses the beautiful Petal Palette Suite. This is one that we know for sure will be carrying over in the new annual catalog, so we don't have to worry about it being obsolete in a couple months.

I borrowed the sponge dauber coloring technique from the fabulous Patty Bennett. It sure made quick work of getting those images colored. Wish I had know about it years ago, because I seem to have an addiction to making swaps that involve a lot of coloring. Sheesh. Which leads me to my second swap card. One that I meticulously colored with a Blender Pen, because I hadn't seen Patty's technique yet.

Heart's Delight Cards, Flirty Flowers, Stampin' Up!

That's okay, I do like to color. It's kind of relaxing and makes me happy. But when I'm doing a couple dozen, maybe not so much, haha. This one uses Flirty Flowers, which I don't know if it's a carry-over, but I DO know the Basket Weave embossing folder is!

Tonight is when the shenanigans may or may not happen....I'll let you know. Maybe. Tomorrow I will share the bag tags that I made for my two downline who came with me. Stay tuned!

Finishing With a BANG!

Heart's Delight Cards, Petal Palette, Sale-A-Bration 2018, Stampin' Up!

There are only TWO weeks left of the amazing 2018 Sale-A-Bration, and Stampin' Up! has added even more items to be redeemed with a qualifying order! To see the latest additions, click the flyer below.

The Thinlits!!! Mr. Big and I are very happy to see the Thinlits added, as well as the embossing folders. I used the Petal Pair embossing folder and the Petals & More Thinlits on this card.

Aren't the birds adorable? They are in the Memories & More card pack that coordinates with this whole suite. I colored the roses and the heart between the birds with Stampin' Blends.

It's been a busy couple of weeks here. I finally came up with a design I liked for my OnStage swap cards, so I've been working on them. And, of course it involves coloring. Why do I do that to myself when I have to make eleventy billion of them? Well, okay, maybe not THAT many but still......

Oh, and on top of that it's getting to be time to get the garden ready for the new season. There were a lot of dead plants that needed to be removed, and the weeds are already popping up! Yesterday I got the first sowing of Sugar Snap peas and spinach planted. It felt so good to be outside in the sunshine! It wasn't even cold and windy - BONUS! Today we're supposed to have rain and possible thunder storms, so the only planting I'll be doing is starting some seeds in seedling trays.

Have a great weekend, and stay away from that green beer!

Time to Relax

Heart's Delight Cards, Petal Palette, Best Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Occasions 2018,

I finally had time to get back in the my "happy place" after the last two days of rushing to get Mom ready to go back home. The past two weeks just flew by, and I'd have loved it if she could have stayed longer, but she needs to see her doctor so I had to let her go.

This card is one of the ones I made for the Stamp Review Crew Petal Palette blog hop, but I didn't get the photo done and edited in time. Sometimes that last-minute-deadline-looming-mojo comes back to bite me in the behind, LOL.

The bird is colored with Night of Navy, Pool Party, and Bermuda Bay combo Stampin' Blends. I don't know what kind of bird he is (and obviously it's a male, because of the bright plumage), but I like him! He's perched on a branch borrowed from Colorful Seasons.

The pretty scalloped edging was made with the filigree die in the Petals & More Thinlits. I cut two of them, then split them lengthwise and glued them to the back of the mat. You have to look really hard to see the seam where they are joined to make them longer!

SAB Second Release

Heart's Delight Cards, Petal Palette, Sale-A-Bration Second Release 2018, Stampin' Up!

Today's the day! There are three new items (the bundle counts as one) added to the Sale-A-Bration selections, and they are fabulous!!! To see the flyer, click the image below.

I've already made several cards with the beautiful Blossoming Basket Bundle, so today I wanted to focus on the beautiful Springtime Foils Specialty DSP. There are four gorgeous designs and you get three sheets of each design for a total of twelve 12" x 12" sheets!

Heart's Delight Cards, Petal Palette, Sale-A-Bration Second Release 2018, Stampin' Up!

This card used the rose gold foiled floral design, which was colored with Stampin' Blends and fussy cut. The blossom was glued to the silver striped DSP that had been cut with the largest Stitched Shapes circle.

After stamping the dots with Powder Pink, the circle was then popped up on dimensionals and the bow (colored w/ Pink Pirouette Blends) was added. The greeting was stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.

Petal Palette & Organizing, Part 2 (of 3)

Petal Palette, From the Heart, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Organizing,

Here's another pretty card to grab your attention before we get down to the card base organization that I promised yesterday. The Petal Palette roses were in the Box o' Useful Bits, as was the Garden Trellis embellished cardstock. I cut the trellis down with Lots of Labels Framelits and added the Fresh Fig mat.

Petal Palette, From the Heart, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Organizing,

I thought the label needed more contrast from the background so I went with Sahara Sand, embossed with Simple Stripes. I love the subtle contrast of the colors and embossing! Products used are listed at the bottom of this post.

Petal Palette, From the Heart, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Organizing,

Okay, now, on to the card bases and how I organize them. First, when I cut a piece of colored cardstock to use as a mat, I like to turn the half I'm not using into a card base to save for later. I find the Stampin' Trimmer and Bone Folder make quick work of the scoring. I prefer to use a bone folder, because it gives a deeper score line than the scoring blade that comes with the trimmer.

Petal Palette, From the Heart, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Organizing,

When I open a pack of Whisper White Thick or Very Vanilla Thick cardstock, I'll spend a couple minutes scoring all of it, and then trimming it all with the Carl Cutter. Most of it is scored lengthwise at the 4-1/4" line (see above), and trimmed to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". Occasionally I reserve a few sheets and score them at 5-1/2" and trim to 4-1/4" x 11". These are used for top-fold (portrait orientation) cards.

It is just so convenient to pull a ready-to-use card base out of the bin! In addition to card bases, I also have pre-cut card liners for inside of the colored cardstock bases, and 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Whisper White and Shimmery White pieces ready to grab for stamping and coloring. Note: At the front of the bin are the free Sale-A-Bration Tutti-Frutti card bases, ready to grab and go!

Petal Palette, From the Heart, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Organizing,

This is the bin that I keep them in on a shelf under my desk. It is 16 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 3 inches deep, the perfect size for card bases AND the smaller Framelits dies envelopes (and embossing folders) as shown below! I keep the newest dies at the front. After carefully prying the dies off the sticky tape, I use the Carl Cutter to cut an adhesive magnet sheet to stick over the tape. Sure makes it easier to get the dies off again without bending them! I put them back in the envelope so I can see the dies, and with the name clearly visible at the top.

Petal Palette, From the Heart, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Organizing,

Tomorrow I'll share my awesome storage for Washi Tape/Twine and the PERFECT ribbon storage! I'll give you a peek at my craft room, too. It is truly my happy place!
