SUOC67, Spring is in the Air!

The challenge this week at SUO Challenges is "Spring is in the Air". No, really - Spring  is going to make a comeback....I promise! I know those of you who are digging out of yet another snow storm find it hard to believe, but I've seen pictures posted of crocuses (croci?) peeking through the snow, so it will happen. Soon. Really. Trust me.

Since Spring always brings new flowers, and I tried to make a CAS card, I settled on the little flower bouquet in Embellished Events. And I FINALLY used the In Color Dahlias that I've been hoarding since they came out last year. They are just so stinkin' cute!

I also used the Summer Starfruit for the card base.  I'm still really, really trying to like this color, and I'm still really, really struggling with it. *sigh*  The embossed panels did tone it down a bit.

So, pull out your favorite stamp set that makes you think of Spring, and the Springiest colors you can think of, and come join us at SUO Challenges!

P.S. If you are into making ATCs (Artist Trading Cards), this stamp would work perfectly.
P.P.S. Sorry (again) for the less-than-stellar photo. I have a new camera coming Friday (woohoo!), so that problem should be remedied VERY soon!!!

Easy Birthday Card

I can't count how many times I've discovered someone was about to have a birthday, and I had wished I'd had some easy birthday cards on hand. It happened again just this week! The Embellished Events stamp set made it simple to whip up three birthday cards, with slight variations, to add to my stash.

Using the marker-to-stamp technique, where you color directly on the stamp with a water-based marker, is a fun way to mix up the colors if you want to make several at a time.

Stamps: Embellished Events, Friendly Phrases
Cardstock: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Floral District DSP
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Basic Gray Stampin' Write Markers
Accessories: Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Perfect Polka-Dots embossing folder, Melon Mambo Scalloped Dots Ribbon, Pearls Basic Jewels, Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack

Here's one of the other cards. You can see how adding a mat behind the Daffodil Delight embossed panel really makes it pop, and the cluster of buttons adds a nice touch.

I think all three cards took less than 45 minutes to make. The most time-consuming part was coloring the stamp. If you just inked it up with an ink pad, it would be even faster. So, there you have some easy birthday cards you can add you your stash!
