Another Baby Girl!

I forgot to post this card a few weeks ago, so I'm fixing that oversight right now! This was the card I made for my cousin's daughter, who gave her her first granddaughter last month. The baby's name is Ivy Ray (isn't that beautiful?), so I thought the greeting from Ray of Sunshine was perfect! I found the inspiration for it on Pinterest from a card by LeeAnn Pugliese.

My cousin, Shaundra, is so blessed. Here's a quick back story: She had triplets about 28 years ago - two girls and a boy. Well, her two daughters got married in a double wedding, and then got pregnant within a couple months of each other. Up to this point, Shaundra had three grandsons, but no granddaughters. Wouldn't you know it - the girls found out they were expecting girls! One of them just had her TWINS last week (card already posted). So the count is even now - 3 boys and 3 girls! I'm so happy for her!

Sweet Baby Girl

Here's a sweet baby girl card that doesn't have any pink on it! The closest thing to pink is the Crisp Cantaloupe, and I think that's more like a pale orange than a pink. I've seen lots of cute baby cards using the Owl Punch, so I had to try one, too! Isn't this just adorable? Those tiny baby dresses just slay me!

It was so easy to make. Since the 2013-2015 In Colors Ruffled Trim was already ruffled, I looked for DSP that would match. After punching out the dresses, I used 1/8" Scor-tape to adhere the ruffled trim.

I hope the recipient likes the card. She was in labor for over 2 1/2 days...yikes! (And I thought 26 hours was bad!)

Happy New Baby

I had a lot of fun making this card for my friends (the parents of the big sister, whose card is here). I'm at the age where most of my friends are well past their child-bearing/rearing stage of life, so when I get an opportunity to make a baby card, it's a real treat!

The new Fringe Scissors are a treat to use, too. I've never been able to cut evenly-spaced cuts with my paper snips, but these scissors make it a snap (or should I say SNIP)! And to make sure I cut an even depth every time, I used a fine Sharpie to draw depth markings at 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", and 1". Shear genius! (Get it?)

The giraffe and elephant were fussy-cut and I got a little crazy cutting the mane on the giraffe. I mean, really, who is going to even notice that kind of detail? The tail is a little piece of Hemp Twine (retired) with the end frayed.

Well, off to prepare for tomorrow's Second Saturday Stamp Club! We're doing some fun fold cards this month, woohoo!

JUGS #171 Challenge

Over at Just Us Girls, the challenge this week is a technique challenge - get inky with your embossed cardstock!

This is fun to do, because it really helps the embossing to "pop". The Chevron embossing folder was used to represent waves on this card, and the new Cloudy Day folder represents, uh....clouds. :-)

Okay, four for four, though I just barely made it under the wire this time. :-)

Stamps: Easy Events
Cardstock: Whisper White, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Shimmery White
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin pie, Wild Wasabi

Bundle of Joy

Another baby card completed this weekend! I had forgotten all about Teddy & Train until I went through the box of retired stamps. In trying to make a gender-neutral card, I had to forgo the cute little train, but the teddy bear was perfect.  It was colored with Copic markers, because I really wanted to blend the colors - the paper it was stamped upon had to be Very Vanilla to match the DSP.  Kind of hard to blend regular ink without making the paper pill up and get all wonky.

I'm always sorry to see stamp sets retire, but also excited to see what new ones will be coming out. Yes, I am conflicted that way. (Some might say psycho, lol.) We only have five days left of Sale-A-Bration, and about five weeks left of the Occasions Mini catalog. Then those stamps will be gone, gone, gone!  And all the lovely Designer Series Papers. *sniff!* Though I gotta be totally honest; those gnomes will not be missed by me at ALL.

Stamps: Teddy & Train
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Wild Wasabi, Bridesmaid DSP (retired)
Ink: VersaMark, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Sketch Markers
Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8" Satin Ribbon, Pearls Basic Jewels, Pinking Hearts Border Punch
