Final Week of Sale-A-Bration!

Well, all good things must come to an end, and Sale-A-Bration is one of them. *sniff* There is only one week left of this promotion and to entice you Stampin' Up! is making a few products from the catalog available as SAB rewards.

One of the new additions is the Shimmer Detailed Laser-cut Specialty DSP. It makes card-making so quick and easy!

Since many of us are stuck at home now, this is the ideal time to build up a stash of ready-to-send cards, or just send them right out to brighten someone's day! I plan to send a ton of happy mail, and I thought the greeting from the Tags In Bloom stamp set (another SAB item) was perfect to use for this purpose. On the inside I will write "from a safe distance, of course!"

After trimming the piece from the specialty DSP, I adhered it to a piece of Perennial Essence DSP. Before adhering it to the card base, I added a strip of Gold Metallic Edge Ribbon so it would peek out the side. Then the greeting was stamped (Mossy Meadow) on a Very Vanilla scrap and punched with the Label Me Fancy Punch, and popped up on dimensionals.

Sale-A-Bration 2nd Release

Can you believe there are only three weeks left of Sale-A-Bration? It sure flew by, didn't it? In addition to the initial items in the flyer, there were new products released last week, and I wanted to showcase a couple of them here.

The Tags In Bloom Sale-A-Bration stamp set coordinates with the Label Me Fancy and Label Me Lovely punches found on page 41 of the mini catalog. It is so easy to make a quick card with these photopolymer stamps - just stamp the outline, use the filler stamp (or markers) to color, and punch it out with the punch. The floral background label has to be fussy cut, of course, otherwise you'd be chopping off the blossoms and leaves.

I paired the stamps with the enchanting So Very Vellum that is also part of the second release. And, I couldn't resist using the annual catalog pre-release Ornate Layers dies... oh, my heavens, they are so lovely! And since I used Highland Heather for the flowers, I added some Highland Heather Gingham Gala adhesive-backed sequins, too!

SAB Second Release Sneak Peek

You know what a paper ho ... I mean, collector I am, so as soon as I saw the two new Specialty DSPs coming in the Sale-A-Bration second release next month, I HAD to get them, and I combined them both on this card!

The first one is called Flowering Foils and it has twelve sheets (12" x 12", three each of four designs) in beautiful rose gold and silver foil. The designs are shown below - click to enlarge for detail.

The second specialty DSP is called So Very Vellum, and each sheet is embossed with dots in a grid pattern. It is also 12" x 12", and contains two sheets each of Pool Party, Purple Posy, and Soft Sea Foam.

I colored one of the large blossoms with Stampin' Blends and fussy cut around it. Since I was in a hurry, I colored the background behind the blossom with Pool Party, so the white would blend in with the Pool Party vellum, rather than meticulously cut around each little detail.

The 'thank you' greeting is from the New Wonders stamp set, and was the perfect size for this card!

I'm giving you a heads-up; just like the Golden Honey Specialty DSP that is part of the current SAB offering, these are going to be VERY popular, so get them sooner rather than later! Little Ladybug Birthday - Tutorial

One of the birthdays in "the month of many birthdays" is my kid sister's. Well, she's not a kid anymore, lol, but she will always be my baby sister. She's a redhead, and when she was little her nickname was Ladybug.

So you can imagine how tickled I was to see the new Little Ladybug Sale-A-Bration host freebie! It is so stinkin' adorable, and I've seen lots of samples using it on Pinterest. The only problem was, I didn't want to fussy cut all those images. Thankfully, Stampin' Up! will be releasing a set of dies for it, starting February 4th. It will be part of the Coordination Product Release that includes dies for other popular stamp sets, too, as well as a DSP pack that coordinates with some punches!

I love how SU makes it so easy to be creative, and appreciate them saving my fingers from tedious fussy cutting. Not that I dislike fussy cutting when necessary, but it's nice to not have to.

Cardstock Cuts

  Card base: Pear Pizzazz 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored and folded at 4-1/4"
  Background: So Saffron gingham (from Subtles DSP pack) 3-1/2" x 5-3/8"
  Images: Whisper White 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
  Grass: Old Olive scraps

Instructions

1. Adhere gingham background to card base, leaving an even border at top and sides.
2. Stamp greetings with StazOn ink
3. Stamp images using Memento ink, as shown above.
4. Color leaves/stems, flower centers, and the ladybugs with Stampin' Blends, then cut with coordinating dies.
5. Cut two grass clumps from Old Olive cardstock.
6. Arrange flowers on card base (trim stems, as needed), having left and right blossoms adhered directly to card base, and center blossom popped up on dimensionals.
7. Adhere one grass clump directly to card base and second clump popped up on dimensionals.
8. Adhere left ladybug by putting a dimensional under her head and gluing her bum down with liquid glue (tuck her bum under the center blossom). Adhere right ladybug with dimensionals.
