CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Kids Valentine

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Kids Valentine. The cute little owls in the Adorable Owls Sale-A-Bration set immediately came to my mind for a cute kid's valentine. It made me think it's kind of like an owl in the Harry Potter books delivering a valentine.

The owl was paired with the Country Floral Lane DSP since it's full of heart patterns which, of course, are for valentines, right?

I knew I wanted the owl to be carrying a heart, but couldn't remember which dies had hearts in them. As I was straightening up my cutting table (which holds my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, various dies and embossing folders, and my ScanNCut machine, I just happened to see the Give it a Whirl Dies with the hearts right up front! There are four sizes of stitched hearts - I used the smallest three.

That's all for today - see you next Saturday! Up next is Libby Fens at Libby Stamps. Or click the "back" button to go back to Lori at Loritamarie Crafts.

CAS Watercolor Hello

Since I had the watercolor paper and water brushes out, and I had so much fun painting this image that I used in the Stamp Review Crew hop, I decided to do another in a different color palette. I used StazOn Jet Black to stamp the tiered planter, instead of the Saddle Brown used before.

I've really been in a Spring color mood, so this time I used purples and yellows with a gray planter. The gray represents the gloomy gray weather we've been having. (Not really, but it sounded good, right? šŸ˜„) Our daffodils are sprouting and will be blooming soon. They're the bright yellow harbingers of Spring here on the farm, and I can't wait!

Because I loved the image so much, and wanted it to be the focal point, I just used a narrow black mat behind it, and popped it up on a wider Gray Granite mat, which was then popped up on the card base. No embellishments - just let the image carry the card.

Measurements

  • Watercolor paper 2 3/8" x 3 1/2"
  • Basic Black mat 2 1/2" x 3 5/8"
  • Gray Granite mat 2 7/8" x 4"
  • Gray Granite card base 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored & folded at 4 1/4"

The HALFWAY Point!

There is only going to be ONE Sale-A-Bration this year, and today marks the halfway point of the promotion. Seriously, it's just whizzing by at light speed!

And as of today, there's MORE to Sale-A-Brate, too! Click on the image below to see the new freebies (with qualifying purchase) that have been added.

Today's card uses one of the free SAB items, Favored Flowers DSP (160833), but with a twist. I wanted bold red and pink peonies, so I colored the DSP with Stampin' Blends to get the colors I wanted! Some fussy-cutting was involved, but it wasn't too difficult.

I also used the reverse de-bossed side of the Metal Plate 3D embossed background. I love how it looks like it's been quilted. 😊 The greeting, from Go To Greetings, was the only thing stamped.

I have more exciting news to share about online exclusives coming next month, but I'll save that for another post. I know, I'm such a tease!
