CCM Saturday Blog Post - Color Me Happy!

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is about line stamps that need coloring - my FAVORITE kind of stamps. I'm happiest when I'm coloring, and of course I chose something floral. Raise your hand if you're getting antsy for Spring to arrive. I know I sure am!

The stem of flowers in Honeybee Home kind of reminds me of hollyhocks or delphiniums, and since delphiniums come in my favorite color, I colored the flowers blue! (Big surprise, huh?) 😄 After die cutting the scalloped background, some Pear Pizzazz was added with a Blending Brush to add a little glow behind the flowers, and was then embossed with the Hive 3D folder.

Since we don't have Garden Green or Pacific Point Stampin' Blends, I used the old trick of pressing the ink pad onto the lid to make a puddle of ink to dip a brush into. An old Clear Wink of Stella brush that was just about dried up worked perfectly when I added water to the barrel and used it like a Water Painter. The added bonus was there was still lots of glimmer left, so the flowers and bumblebee have added shine. AND the brush tip is very fine, so it's good for detailed images, too.

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Love

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is all about LOVE. This was the perfect chance for me to use some new preorder products in a non-traditional color Valentine. My honey isn't much for mushy stuff, so I thought the bold blues of the Waves of the Ocean Collection (coming March 1st!) would be more appropriate than pinks and reds for his Valentine.

Trust me, you're going to LOVE this new collection! (See what I did there?) 😄 There is gorgeous DSP, foils, rhinestones and an ocean-theme stamp set with coordinating dies. I did have a little trouble getting a good picture, but I think you can get an idea of how shiny this is.

Anyhoo, I used the Love & Happiness bundle (Jan-Jun mini) with the Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana foils, along with the coordinating rhinestones backed up by the Waves of the Ocean DSP.

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Kid's Valentine

Happy New Year, everyone! Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Valentines for the kiddies. This was a fun challenge for me because I don't have any littles in my life now to send Valentines to, and I don't have many kid-themed stamps. But looking at that Sale-A-Bration set called Awesome Otters, I knew exactly how to convert it to a Valentine!

The image I used is the otter holding a fish, but that doesn't really inspire thoughts of love. But if he's holding a HEART, that's another story!

I used an Exacto knife to cut around his arms (and discovered it desperately needs a new blade, yikes) and then free hand cut a heart to fit and cover up that stinky fish. 😁

The colorful striped pattern in the Sweet Talk DSP is perfect for a kid's card, and I added a little texture with the Dotty Hearts Embossing Folder.
