Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew - Apron of Love edition! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. You may have come from Charlet's blog, Painted Orange, or are just starting here. Either way, follow the links at the bottom to go on to the next stop, or you can click the banner above for the blog roll.
I had a lot of fun making these three (count 'em, THREE) cards! My first thought was to make just a Mother's Day and Father's Day card. But when I got finished with the Mother's day one, the next one went in a totally different direction! Does that ever happen to you? And the third one isn't related to aprons at all. So, let's start with the one for Mom.
I have fond childhood memories of "helping" Mom when she baked. Of course, I was hoping she'd let me lick the spoon or beaters! That was back in the dark ages, before we ever heard about raw eggs possibly being dangerous carriers of salmonella. Ahhh, the good old days. Truth be told (before I started eating super low carb) I regularly lived on the edge and ate raw cookie dough anyway, LOL.
I do remember Mom had a wooden rolling pin with red handles, so I just had to make one. The sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings was stamped on Wood Textures DSP first, then cut with the die. I never would have been able to line it up if I'd tried it the other way around!
Up next is the "where the heck did this come from?" card. I started out thinking about fathers and grilling, but then I got distracted (squirrel!) thinking about how we just had the first cookout of the season, and how happy I am that Spring is here, and things just took a sharp turn from there!
I already had the Pinewood Planks embossed Crumb Cake in my Box o' Useful Bits, so I dragged the Sahara Sand ink pad across to highlight the wood grain, then went over it with a WW Craft ink pad to give it a whitewashed look.
That Weber BBQ was cut using the large rounded apron pocket die, and the smoke wisps were from the apron strings die. After cutting the BBQ tools from silver foil, I cut them again from "wood", trimmed the excess and glued them on. Happy Spring was borrowed from Fable Friends, which I forgot to list in the products below....oops!
Everything on that card was cut using the Apron Builder dies, with the exception of the wheel on the grill. I'm not one who really gets into punch art (or die art, as the case may be), but this was kind of fun to create!
And last, but not least, is a little Get Well card in happy Spring colors. I tried to think outside the box for this one! See the little lacy edge behind the greeting? That's the large lace-edged apron pocket! I cut two of them, then trimmed them down to form a circle and glued them to the 1-3/4" Daffodil Delight circle. The seam where they are joined is covered with the organdy ribbon. A 1-3/8" circle fits perfectly inside the lacy circle.
The embossed background is a little different......it was first embossed with the Subtle folder, and then with the Country Floral folder. If you click on the picture, you can see it looks a little bit like embossed fabric.
Well, that's all from me.....I hope I've inspired you to look at this set a little differently! Up next is Wendy at Wickedly Wonderful Creations - she's always got something awesome to share!

What a terrific trio of cards, Cindy. I love the cooks apron cards, two great ways to show off that cute apron in the ginghams. Your grill is adorable! The little flowers on the layered circle is really shown off on the Country Floral EF, clever!
ReplyDeleteI love all 3 of your cards! Great Mother's Day and Father's Day ideas!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these cards, Cindy! Such cute details on the first card, including the ruffled trim on the bottom of the apron. And those BBQ tools are so realistic and darling! I love the little lacy circle you created on the third part, and the layering of two embossing folders. How clever!
