Played some more with no line watercoloring, but this time I used all Stampin' Up! products. The flowers in Birthday Blooms are perfect for coloring, whether you are using Stampin' Blends (image stamped in Memento ink), or watercoloring (image stamped in Basic Black Archival), or no line watercoloring (image stamped in light colored ink).
For this card I used Sahara Sand to stamp the image, then colored it with Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz as the base colors. Trust me when I say "Don't be afraid of the colors!" because just those two colors, even when shaded, are going to look rather flat. You need to add more colors to really make the image pop.
Here I added Crushed Curry, not only to the leaves, but to the blossom, as well. I liked the warm glow that it gave. I also added some Old Olive to the leaves for more contrast.
I stamped another image after the one for the card without re-inking the stamp, so the lines were even lighter. Here is what it looked like with just the Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz added. It's pretty, but kind of blah.
In this photo, I added Sweet Sugarplum to the blossoms and, wait for it.....Fresh Fig to the leaves! There is also some Old Olive and Daffodil Delight in the leaves, but that Fresh Fig really makes them stand out. Since the stamped lines were so light, the veins in the leaves got lost when I colored them, so I added some with the fine detail water brush.
I think I like the Sweet Sugarplum shading better than the Crushed Curry! What do you think?
