Avant Garden Birthday, Part II

I really, really am going to be sad to see this set go, can you tell? If you want it, you only have five days left to qualify for it before it's gone forever. And don't even get me started on the In Colors that will be retiring in a couple months! Whatever will we do without Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder? That's why I chose those colors for this card. (Cue the dirge for the background music.)

But seriously, it always pains me when fun stampin' goodies retire. The only thing that soothes the agony is the new stampin' goodies that replace them!

Here's the "How To"
 Greeting: Whisper White 3-3/8" x 4-1/8"
 Mat: Basic Black 3-1/2" x 4-1/4"
 Glimmer paper: 1" x 4"
 Card base: Mint Macaron 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
  1. Mask off 1-1/8" from center of greeting panel and stamp blossoms using Watermelon Wonder and Flirty Flamingo above and below mask. Stamp flower centers in Basic Black and leaves in Mint Macaron.
  2. Remove mask and stamp greeting in center using Watermelon Wonder.
  3. Attach greeting to mat.
  4. Use Best Badge punch to make a scalloped edge on glimmer paper. Center behind Basic Black mat, adhere, and trim ends even.
  5. Attach greeting to card base using dimensionals.
And there you have an easy-peasy card, ready to wow someone special!

Avant Garden Birthday "Bits"

I discovered another, much smaller, box of useful bits today (yikes!) and decided to use some of them along with the soon-to-retire Sale-A-Bration set, Avant Garden. The embossed oval and die cut flourish were in that box, so all I had to do was stamp and fussy-cut the blossom and leaves, make the birthday banner (greeting is from Cool Treats) and put it all together!

There's a lot of Clear Wink of Stella on the blossom, but you just can't see it in this photo. Trust me, it sparkles almost as much as that (now sold out) glimmer paper! Speaking of sold out SAB items, there are only six days left before it all ends. The items that are no longer available to redeem are the Card Tin, the Glimmer Paper Assortment, the Sparkle embossing folder, and the Seaside embossing folder. Remember, things tend to run out toward the end of the promotion!

I am so going to miss this stamp set. I know I'll have it available for personal use, but I won't be using it for stamp classes or clubs. *sad face*

Fresh Freesia

This pretty freesia blossom is from a (ahem, *cough* contraband) stamp set by Altenew. Freesias are near the top of my list of favorite flowers, so when my stamping friend said she had this set, I just had to stamp a bunch of them to color when we got together for our monthly stamparama. I love the elegant simplicity of the image, and the ten greetings that come with it are very versatile, as well!

I didn't want to go overboard with embellishments, but at the same time, I thought the card needed a little something. The embossing from the Delicate Details embossing folder set (retired) added just the right touch of subtle texture, without overpowering the image. I did some fussy-cutting along the embossed edge, then popped the whole panel up on dimensionals.

Long day yesterday, getting everything ready for the tax preparer. My brain was fried, so that's why this is a short post, with no "how to." Check back tomorrow....I should be recovered by then.

Easter Message

Easter is four and a half weeks away, so it's time to start thinking about Easter cards. I don't usually send cards for Easter, but this year I think I will. The images in the stamp set Easter Message are so simple, yet powerful, and are easy to color if you choose, or just leave as is.

I used the Sunburst Thinlits die as a mask, centering it on the cardstock and sponging So Saffron lightly in the gaps. The cross was stamped in Basic Black and colored with blender pens and Soft Suede. The rope is Crumb Cake and the drape is Perfect Plum.

I thought the message needed a fancy label, so I used the retired Apothecary Accents Framelits, popped up on dimensionals.

The message inside says "May peace be your gift this Easter", and is from the Suite Sentiments stamp set.

Here are the measurements:
 Image: Whisper White 3-3/4" x 5"
 Mat: Daffodil Delight 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
 Card base: Perfect Plum 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" score & folded at 4-1/4"
