Simple Snowflake Sentiments

Snowflake Sentiments, Season's Greetings, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

I love a good CAS card, and this one certainly fits the bill.  I got the idea while eating supper (you just never know when or where inspiration will strike!), and hurried into my craft room after swallowing my last bite. I didn't even do the dishes first! Not that I usually do the dishes right after dinner anyway, but still....I was a woman a mission!

Snowflake Sentiments, Season's Greetings, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Mostly I didn't want to forget what I had just thought of, because that happens a LOT. And more frequently the older I get, darn it. I am very happy to say, it turned out exactly as I had pictured it, which all too frequently isn't the case. You should see how much ends up in the round file under my desk. Or not. You'd be shocked.

So, I'm a happy stamper today! It was a gorgeous Fall day, and I didn't have to "file" anything. For the WIN!!!

Be Creative!

Crafting Forever, Stampin' Up!, Hand Stamped, Watercolored, Handmade Card

When I'm stumped for card ideas, it sure is handy to have that bits box available! I didn't have any idea what to do for a card today because I've been busy organizing my pantry. Well, let me back that up a bit. First I was going to clean out the refrigerator, but before I could do that, I had to move the stuff off the kitchen counters to make room for fridge stuff. But before I could do that, I had to make room for it in the pantry. Sound familiar?

We moved here two years ago, and the pantry hasn't been purged/organized since that time. Let's just say there were things that expired BEFORE we moved here that somehow got packed and moved. What was I thinking?!

Crafting Forever, Stampin' Up!, Hand Stamped, Watercolored, Handmade Card

I know, I was so ready to be done with moving that toward the end, in the final scramble to be out of the house before escrow closed, we were just tossing everything in boxes without sorting. Here's the post about the move, if you're interested. I was without a craft room for FIVE MONTHS, so I couldn't "do something creative every day." I tell ya, it nearly killed me!!!

So, where was I? Oh yeah, no idea for a card. I had this image that I had colored while at my friend's house for our monthly stamp-together. And laying on my desk were scraps of DSP leftover from this card. Throw them on a couple of mats, stamp the greeting (I cut the stamp apart), and voilĂ  - instant card!

Snowy Colorful Seasons (& Some SWEET Deals!)

Colorful Seasons, Snow, Snowflakes, Christmas, Stampin' Up!

Holy cow, Stampin' Up! is really making October the month for sweet deals! Not only are they having their annual Designer Series Paper sale for the entire month, but they are also celebrating Word Cardmaking Day with a sale on select stamp sets that coordinate with the DSP that's on sale. The Very Vanilla and Whisper White note card/envelope packs are on sale, too, and if you buy the Fast Fuse adhesive, you get TWO refills for free! The WCMD sale is only from October 1st - 10th, though, not the entire month like the DSP.

Colorful Seasons, Snow, Snowflakes, Christmas, Stampin' Up!

Today's card features one of the snowflakes from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, embossed in clear on the card base. The snowflake die die cuts are cut from the matching Color Theory DSP stack that is part of the sale.

Colorful Seasons, Snow, Snowflakes, Christmas, Stampin' Up!

Colorful Seasons doesn't have a Christmas/Winter greeting so, since snowflakes were the theme, I went with the Merry Little Labels stamp set. It just seemed appropriate.

Layered Leaves with Layers of Leaves

Layered Leaves, Stampin' Up!, Thinking of You card, Die cuts, Big Shot

Using up more useful bits today, and I wanted to show you my "Oops!" moment that lead to a slightly different look for the card.

I started out adhering the leftover Layered Leaves embossed piece (from this card) to an Early Espresso mat, and then laid leaves from the Box o' Useful Bits on top to get a feel for how I wanted to place them.

Then disaster struck! (cue intense movie music) Apparently my grip stuttered when I stamped the greeting, and this wasn't a case of an opportunity for embellishment. I could have stamped the greeting on a label and covered it, but that wasn't the look I was going for.

So, I added another mat; this time copper because copper makes everything better (as does chocolate, but that would have been messy) and moved the leaf panel down a little bit so I could stamp the greeting above it.

You can bet I was very, very careful this time! I think I like this "Oops!" card better than the one I had planned.
