Coffee Café CAS

Quick post today. Mom is going home tomorrow, so I'm trying to spend as much time as I can with her. It will be four months before I get to see her again!

This is a CAS card made with the Coffee Café Photopolymer bundle. It's showing one of my favorite drinks from a certain coffee company that isn't within 50 miles of me. (I'm looking at you, Starbucks!) I do miss the occasional splurge of that frosty, creamy Mocha Frap during hot summer days. *Sigh* Probably better that it isn't an easy drive, for both my waistline and my wallet.

The background is Coffee Break DSP (4" x 5-1/4") on a Crumb Cake card base. After stamping the whipped cream with Sahara Sand and die cutting it, I used a thin bead of liquid glue to hold it to the mocha. The mocha was cut twice - once from Crumb Cake, and once from a window sheet. They are held together with a couple of glue dots under the greeting.

The clear lid was also cut from a window sheet. You have to get creative when hiding the adhesive, so a very thin line of liquid glue was run along a couple of edges of the whipped cream, and the lid was carefully placed on and left to dry. Coffee beans stamped in Early Espresso, die cut and popped up on mini dimensionals. Straw die cut from Garden Green.

Mmmmm, I'm dreaming of a cool, creamy beverage......

Celebration Time (GDP093 again!)

Here's another submission for this week's Global Design Project color challenge. It went together a little bit easier than Monday's piggy card. This time I used the Celebration Time bundle, which has a thirteen piece stamp set (wood or clear mount) and an awesome fourteen piece Thinlits die set to match.

As I was making the card, I kept thing of other things I could do with those Thinlits and wishing I had some "me" clones so I could make them as soon as I thought of them!

That's the trouble - I have an occasional flash of a brilliant idea, but by the time I'm finished with what I'm working on, I can't remember what it was. It happens when I'm falling asleep, too. It's times like that I wish we could do a screen capture of our minds. Can you imagine the all fun stuff we could do if we could do that?!

To refresh your memory, here is the GPD093 color challenge:

Here's the "How To"
 Cake: Berry Burst 2-1/4" x 3-1/2"
 Greeting layer: Whisper White 2-7/8" x 4-1/8"
 Mat: Lemon Lime Twist 3" x 4-1/4"
 Background: Pool Party 4-1/8" x 5-3/8"
Card base: Lemon Lime Twist 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
  1. Use the banner stamp and Pool Party ink to stamp banners randomly on the Pool Party cardstock. Adhere to card base.
  2. Use the banner stamp and Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist, and Berry Burst ink to stamp banners near top of Whisper White.
  3. Stamp greeting very close to lower right edge using Berry Burst ink. Adhere to mat and then attach to card base with dimensionals.
  4. Rub the Embossing Buddy all over the Berry Burst cardstock then use VersaMark ink to stamp the cake. Cover with embossing powder, tap off excess and heat with Heat Tool until melted.
  5. Cut out the cake with the cake die and use the scraps to cut out two small and one large flower with the flower dies.
  6. Adhere cake with dimensionals, and flowers with liquid glue. Add pearls to flowers' centers.

This Little Piggy GDP093

THIS was truly a challenging card for me. I knew I wanted to use This Little Piggy (available in wood or clear mount), so I figured I'd head over to the Global Design Project challenge blog for inspiration. Oh, goodie, a color challenge! I love color challenges almost as much as sketch challenges!!! And the colors, Berry Burst, Pool Party, and Lemon Lime Twist are lovely together....how hard could it be?

Let me tell you, it was plenty hard! Maybe if I had chosen a nice floral stamp set it would have come together a bit more easily. But noOOoo, I had to choose piggies. I thought it would be fun to make a "just because" card for my son, who can make pigs fly.

You think I'm kidding? Check out the YouTube video below. He had a rubber pig (I think it was a dog squeaky toy) that he stuck on his quad copter drone. The surprised look on the pig is hysterical!

Anyhoooo, I made the clouds on the Pool Party cardstock using one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Embossing Paste. The pig was stamped on Shimmery White (for ease of coloring), and the greeting was made with the Labeler Alphabet set. Love that set - I can make any greeting I want!
